A lot of people are upset because that guy in southern Kandahar went on a maniacal shooting spree and murdered 16 innocent people. Military people and Leon Panetti are worried that between this and the Koran thing it’s gonna be even harder to rebuild trust with the Afghan people and in the United States support for military operations in the middle east are at an all time low because people think it’s been so long and it feels like what’s the point.

I wish that guy hadn’t been in the military for 11 years because I can only imagine how badly that ruins your psychological health, and I wish that guy hadn’t had to do three tours of duty in Iraq. He clearly snapped but if he had listened to RUSH when they talk about the importance of sticking it out, he might not have snapped so hideously. I think all people in combat in zones should listen to STICK IT OUT because it can honestly save lives if you think about it.

A lot of people are upset because the universe seems completely random and their faith doesn’t seem to do the trick anymore, and also they’re upset because they feel like they’re constrained by their comfort zones and behavioral patterns and preconceived notions to live a certain way and never take any chances.

In this song by RUSH Neil Peart’s lyrics are all about how there can be a positive side to understanding that life is all random and the positive side is that we get to decide for ourselves what we’re gonna do and we make it interesting. And the best way to know what you wanna do is to step out of your comfort zone and have some experiences that might not necessarily fit into the model of how you’ve previously led your life, because you probably only live once and you gotta ROLL THE BONES!

A lot of people are still upset because Rush Limbaugh apologized for the way he treated women, but then he said that having sex is like having a pair of sneakers and that defending contraception is a waste of time.

If he had only paid more attention to his own name then he might have discovered the band RUSH at a much earlier age and he might have heard this song, ‘Alien Shore’. Then he would probably understand better that relations between men and women are very complicated to begin with, and common ideas of gender don’t help. Sometimes when a male and a female manage to make a connection it can be a very moving and special experience, and sometimes when they’re  consenting adults they feel like they need to have sex just to find out how deep their connection is. If Rush Limbaugh and people like him understood this then they probably wouldn’t belittle the issue of contraception, and they would be much, much, much happier.

A lot of people are upset because that veteran journalist with the eye patch got killed in Syria and they don’t know if they’re gonna be able to get her body. It’s a terrible thing but it’s also a good thing to see people giving her the respect and appreciation that she deserves for being such a brave journalist.

But if people really understood how important she was and if they listened to this song Nobody’s Hero by Rush, they would understand that in our societies we have a big problem following celebrities who are only famous for being famous and have never actually contributed anything of value to society.  Instead of looking up to and being obsessed with people who aren’t talented or special in any way, our society should place more value on people who do really good things and who are actually heroes deserving our admiration and respect.

A lot of people are upset because the NYPD have unlawfully been surveilling Muslims in New York and New Jersey, and also because since 9/11 there has been a growing tolerance for the obstruction of minority rights and the right to privacy for Muslim and ethnic Arabs specifically.

It’s easy to dismiss the promises that the Bill of Rights make as antiquated, especially during times of war when questions of what’s right and what’s wrong become harder to figure out.  In this called The Color of Right, RUSH acknowledges how difficult it can be to reconcile eternal truths with the complexities of an ever-modernizing world.  But they suggest in the song that we should probably remember that the persons our policies effect are real with people with histories, feelings, limits, and rights.

Freedom is not a function of majority rule but instead a promise from God and nature, and I think that if more people listened to this song by RUSH and the line about A Quality Of Justice they would understand that even though it’s sometimes hard to to figure this stuff out, what’s right is the idea you’ve got to be good to people because freedom, justice and mercy are the promise of the foundation of our sovereignty, our Revolution, and our moral future.

A lot of people are still upset because Mitt Romney said Detroit should go bankrupt and now he doesn’t understand human feelings. It seems like he wanted to present himself as a human being who likes cars and is concerned about the height of trees instead of just confusing and frightening everyone. Tragically he could have learned all about that stuff if he had only studied ‘Red Barchetta’. RUSH managed to transmit all that information in one convenient package without sacrificing a sense of enthusiasm or nostalgia or anything else that he might like to know about.

A lot of people are upset because of the riots that are happening in Afghanistan because all the people there are really upset because the Korans that were burned in the NATO thing.  The American soldiers that are seeing their friends die are all like “after all this time, THIS is what it was all for?” and then Newt Gingrich is all like “Obama shouldn’t apologize for the thing”.  It’s complicated.

But if you listen to what RUSH are trying to say in this song you would understand that there are whole lot of people who weren’t fortunate enough to be on the winning end of the NAFTA thing and that neo-liberalism is ok but that a lot of the time’s a person’s wealth and status was gained at somebody else’s expense and it’s not ok to treat people like that.

A lot of people are upset because today is Whitney Houston’s funeral, and they still don’t understand why she did that.

In this song RUSH sends a message which should help them, and may have helped her. Being a big star isn’t just about glamor and fame, there’s a heavy price to pay because it can be scary when people are watching all the time. Everyone needs to be alone sometimes, and when your job is to be a famous star they won’t let you, and then you start to feel like you can’t escape from a nightmare. But that doesn’t mean it’s okay to get addicted to hard drugs. If she had only listened more closely to RUSH she would have realized that it’s best to learn ways to emotionally disconnect without breaking everyone’s heart.
